Whether your dog needs a coat depends on coat type, size and age more than on temperature alone. Huskies and shepherds are fine in weather that has a whippet shivering. As a rough guide: thin-coated, small, senior or very young dogs want a layer below fifty degrees.
Look for harness openings if you walk on a harness, belly coverage for wet ground, and water resistance for anywhere that rains. Sizes small through large breed.
