MODERN SOMMET & LUMMIA CRATES
Handcrafted with pride in our Denver workshop, each of our premium dog crates is made with the highest quality, locally sourced materials. We focus on creating durable, functional, and beautifully designed crates that provide your pup with a comfortable home built to withstand the test of time.
DOG TESTED & APPROVED
Our crates are dog-tested before they are even complete! Hunter, my 11 year old cattle dog, is my sidekick "shop dog". You can usually find him sleeping or in the break room begging for snacks!

WHY THE WAIT?
A custom wood dog crate requires careful craftsmanship and attention to detail, which naturally leads to a wait time. Each crate is precisely cut, assembled, and finished to ensure durability, functionality, and a polished appearance.
Each crate consists of 32 individual pieces, all of which must be edge banded, drilled, and doweled before assembly. When crafting 92 crates at once, that adds up to nearly 3,000 individual pieces that need to be hand processed with care. This level of detail ensures durability and a polished finish, but it also means that production takes time. Unlike mass-produced alternatives, each crate is meticulously crafted to meet high-quality standards, making the wait a testament to the superior craftsmanship that goes into every piece.
Skilled artisans take the time to refine every detail, ensuring seamless construction and smooth edges for a high-quality final product. The production process can take longer, especially with high demand for premium, handmade pet furniture.
This commitment to quality craftsmanship ensures that every crate is both stylish and long-lasting, making the wait well worth it.
What can we say...beauty takes time!
The wait for our crate can be a couple days up to a couple months, depending on which color we currently have in production. While we sell out of the crates very quickly, if you are in a hurry to have yours, please reach out. We can always work to meet your needs!
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF CRATE PRODUCTION

This machine cuts the tops & bottoms of the crate. It optimizes multiple parts onto a single sheet to reduce waste and maximize efficiency.

This machine cuts all the smaller pieces that build your crate.

This machine creates the cosmetic edges of your crate.

Utilizing modern technology, the shop workers have access to everything they need to create our crates safely. Can you imagine picking up giant sheets of wood!

This machine drills holes for each stainless steel bars and each dowel that will hold everything together. The dowels are water activated. The machine shoots a tiny drop of water into each hole after drilling and then shoots the dowel in. With the water, the dowel then swells, which makes the crate solid and sturdy.

This is what the pieces look like after they have been through the machine that drills and dowels for each piece.
AT THE SHOP
The incredible team at our shop in Denver pours their heart and soul into perfecting every crate we create. Bob, Chris, Jeff, Josh, and David aren't just coworkers — they're family. Working alongside them is truly a privilege, and I’m constantly inspired by their dedication, passion, and craftsmanship. Their hard work makes every piece we produce something special, and I couldn't be more grateful for them.
In the years of making the crates we are thrilled to say we have never had one customer dissatisfied with their crate.
